Christmas Letter
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL
13 December 2008 THE reason for the season.
We have celebrated Christmas as a married couple for 35 years now. It’s an interesting journey.
Many symbols represent Christmas-many from marketing born of commercialism. Others are deeply seated from the scriptures. Many Christian symbols are being attributed to non-Christian worship (paganism, druids, etc.). To this ‘new’ knowledge I say, whatever. Christ existed before druids and paganism and He will exist after. If puny mankind thinks he knows better and knows all there is to know about religion (purportedly created by man to explain the unexplainable), well, they’ve got another think coming. I’m certain that many in mortality who were so sure of their ‘absolute’ and ‘perfect’ knowledge have had and will have quite a rude awakening when they pass to the other side of that thin fragile veil between mortality and both pre- and post-mortality. We crossed it once getting here, we’ll cross it again returning home.
Christmas cards are great-and I do love them. They’re a lot of extra work–this I know. I cherish Christmas letters more. I guess because to me they’re not fake. They’re real. I don’t care if someone typed or wrote one and printed multiple copies. They’re still the real deal, love, sentiments, message, hmmm… searching for the right word… hmmm… LOVE! They’re the real love from the person who sent it. Well, that’s how I feel when I get a letter from my friends and relatives. I feel like I’m part of their circle of love. Thanks to all of you who do letters. You know I save those letters and re-read them. They’re special to me. They’re a gift. They’re like a testimony of a person’s life.
Well, as for us news-wise, we quit foster parenting last January. Whew! Of course we told you-most of you, that I graduated last December and walked last April-the last class to do so before UVSC took on its new name and role of UVU.
Basketball game night I kind of got into the spirit of it all:
AS FOR WALKING:
DAVID & MY NEWS:
David celebrated his 10th year anniversary at Qwest. Qwest averted another strike (big WHEW!). I’m working as the online store merchandiser at Creative Xpress (www.creativexpress.com) the online outlet for Provo Craft. David and I celebrated our big whoopty doos by going to Disney World for 3 days. We had a blast. We have a new puppy (Shi Tzu Mini Poodle mix), Coco. He looks like Falkor-the luck dragon from the movie Never Ending Story. He was another promise I made to myself. I missed Moki a LOT and I wanted a little companion for those times when David isn't home and isn't due home and there's more on my plate than I want to eat (don't know how it got there) and I drop food-stuff on the floor. I think he's cute. He picks his ball or chew toy up and throws it into the air and chases it. He loves to grab onto a rag and play tug of war. He's smart and cute. Guess I can't ask for more than this!
FAMILY NEWS:
John & Dawn are expecting their 5th child in May or thereabouts. Nel & Aaron had their 4th child (uneventfully-Whew!) last October. Jacob had a couple fast growing benign growths (BIG whew!) removed from near his clavicle; he and Sharon moved to White Sands New Mexico Missile Range-live on base and are HOPING to uneventfully finish their enlistment time with the Army come November 2009 (BIG WHEW!). Joey is now a level 2 tech at Blue Host and is starting to date-bought a car. Yeah-he’s getting smart in his aging. Ruth left Eric (WHEW!-big time) and moved in here last January with her two sons. They should be able to finalize their divorce soon! Paul is almost through with his associates degree (whew!) and is happily married (Whew!) to Erin Anne and she should finish her last class (statistics-yuck! BIG YUCK!) and will then have earned her BS degree!!! Paul will seek to complete his BFA elsewhere-don’t know where yet, but elsewhere.
Merry Christmas to all and may the Peace of knowing He fulfilled all of what He was asked to do reside as a calm reassurance in your hearts every day.
Wisemen still seek Him:
He is the LIGHT, the TRUTH, the WAY.
