Demand Respect vs. Command Respect

What's the difference between those who demand respect as opposed to those who command respect? What do I mean by demand respect? Simply defined it's someone who says I have this title and you will call me by it. Whether the person worked for it (through education, determination, will power, or through experience in either their field of expertise or the business world) or it was granted unto them (through birth, social  graces, or in a business setting because they're the best brown-noser). I've been told I will refer to someone their title (earned in college) because that's the only way others in the organization will take them seriously and respect them. Seriously? How weak a person is if they buy into that. Is the real truth that this person doesn't know how to work with others in such a way that their brilliance supersedes them? What do I mean by command respect? These are those who are recognized by others as having earned the respect offered. The

Attitudes and Triggers

What is This Trigger You Speak Of? Triggers and trigger fingers are interesting in their own rights. Triggers are easy to pull and when you're the only one who can be in control of said pulling, then, they're great things. Trigger fingers are one of the most well developed appendages of the body. You use them for everything all the time. To you it may bring back fond memories of earlier days, days gone by; but to another it may bring back memories of an imperfection or perhaps you were too young to know better and therefore is a painful memory. Attitude About Triggers For the longest time for me every

Grocery Stores and Short-Order Cooks

I've wondered of late the relationship between grocery stores and short-order cooks. What's brought this to mind is watching my kids interact with my grandkids. I hear things like, "Well, I don't think he/she will eat that two days in a row," and "He seems to be a vegetarian," and "He only likes sweets." Say what?! Seriously? They eat what you fix. You fix what you can afford to buy. So what has changed since I was a kid who ate what my parents put on the table (coon, possum, deer, squirrel, fish)? And what of my parents? I never heard stories of them eating anything other than what was served. If you didn't like what you were served, guess what, the next meal will be here in about four hours and you can eat then. No issues. So what has really changed? Well let's see. A young mother goes through all the same things every mother has gone through. How to get the kid to eat enough so they'll sleep through the night, be healthy, b
