I Owe, I Owe, It's Off to Work I Go!

And it came to pass that after I, the Lord God, had driven them out, that Adam began to till the earth, and to have adominion over all the beasts of the field, and to eat his bread by the sweat of his bbrow, as I the Lord had commanded him. And Eve, also, his wife, did clabor with him. ~Moses 5:1

She didn't get up very quickly. She didn't get dressed very quickly. She didn't get her chores done very quickly. She was, like most of us, using her agency to argue, to fight, to protest. But.... did she understand what she was fighting? Who she was fighting? Do most of us ever understand who we are fighting?

Moms & dads tell their kids they have to do chores. Why? Because kids make messes too? Because parents want their kids to learn to be clean and keep a clean home? Because they want to boss them around? Maybe parents want to be mean to kids because their parents were mean to them! Whatever....

D&C 90:18 "Set in order your houses; keep slothfulness and uncleanness far from you."
D&C 88:124 "Cease to be aidle; cease to be bunclean; cease to cfind fault one with another; cease to dsleep longer than is needful; retire to thy bed early, that ye may not be weary; arise early, that your bodies and your minds may be einvigorated."

I believe God inspires prophets what to teach His children. When King Benjamin made the following statement, I realized I was responsible to God to teach my children correct principles. Mosiah 4:14: "And ye will not suffer your achildren that they go hungry, or naked; neither will ye bsuffer that they transgress the laws of God, and fight and cquarrel one with another, and serve the devil, who is the master of sin, or who is the devil spirit which hath been spoken of by our fathers, he being an enemy to all righteousness." The word 'suffer' means allow.

Thus, when you realize that parents are under a command to teach their children to work or do chores, when a child does them slothfully or not at all-who are they really arguing with? The parent? I submit they are arguing against God-IF you have taught them that you as a parent are under the command of God to teach them to work by the sweat of their brow all the days of their life AND you work right alongside of them.

Keep God's commandments at a Celestial level and that's where you're going to end up! "For he who is not able to abide the alaw of a celestial kingdom cannot babide a ccelestial glory." D&C 88:22
