Love in Marriage is a Steady As We Go Proposition

Heard this song played over and over and over again in the IMAX theater at Moody Gardens. Liked the words so I looked up the song when I got home. Reminds me of Frog and Princess.

Dave Matthews Band, Steady As We Go

I'll walk halfway around the world
Just to sit down by your side
I would do most anything, girl
To be the apple of your eye
Troubles, they may come and go
But good times, they're the gold
And if the road gets rocky, girl
Just steady as we go

Any place you wanna go
Know I'll be next to you
If it's treasure, baby, you're looking for
I'll search the whole world through
I know troubles, they may come and go
But good times, they're the gold
So if the road gets rocky, girl
Just steady as we go

When the storm comes down you shelter me
When I don't say a word but you know exactly what I mean
In the darkest times, oh, you shine on me
You set me free, keep me steady as we go

So if your heart wrings dry, my love
I will fill your cup
And if the load gets heavy, girl
I will lift you up
Well troubles, they may come and go
But good times they're the gold
So if the road gets rocky, girl
Just steady as we go

-- Dave ad lib --

Shine, shine, shine
shine on me, baby

Love. For some it appears to start with physical attraction, but really its about acceptance and fidelity.

James Otto, Just Got Started Lovin’ You

Mmm--hmmm
You don’t have to go now, honey
Call ‘em, tell ‘em you won’t be in today
Baby there ain’t nothin’ at the office
So important it can’t wait

I’m thankful for the weekend
But two days in heaven just ain’t gonna do
Yes, it’s gonna take forever darlin’
Girl, I just got started lovin’ you

What’s the point in fightin’ what we’re feelin’
We both know we’ll never win
Ain’t this what we’re missin’?
Let’s just stop all this resistin’ and give in

Let me wrap my arms around you
You know you don’t wanna leave this too
‘Come back and let me hold you, darlin’
Girl, I just got started lovin’ you

What can I say? I’ve never felt this way
Girl, you’re like a dream come true
After all the love we've made, it sure would be a shame
If we let this moment end so soon

So won’t you lay back down beside me
Girl, just like I know you want it to
Trust me when I tell you, darlin’
Girl, I just got started lovin’ you
I ain’t gonna stop

Oh, yeah

What can I say? I’ve never felt this way
Girl, you’re like a dream come true
After all the love we've made, it sure would be a shame
If we let this moment end so soon

I’m thankful for the weekend
But two days in heaven just ain’t gonna do
Yes, it’s gonna take forever darlin’
Girl, I just got started lovin’ you
Come back and let me hold you, darlin’
Girl, I just got started lovin’ you, oh mmm-hmmm

ohhh

I’m gonna hang out all week long
I’ve been lovin’, kissin’, huggin’ baby, mmm-hmmm

This is true of parents to their children. I believe it's true of Heavenly Parents of us, their children. With one minor clarification-repentance opens the way for forgiveness. God cannot forgive without your admittance of sin.

George Straight, Love Without End, Amen

I got sent home from school one day with a shiner on my eye.
Fightin' was against the rules and it didn't matter why.
When dad got home I told that story just like I'd rehearsed.
And then stood there on those tremblin' knees and waited for the worst.

And he said, "Let me tell you a secret about a father's love,
A secret that my daddy said was just between us."
He said, "Daddies don't just love their children every now and then.
It's a love without end, amen, it's a love without end, amen."

When I became a father in the spring of '81
There was no doubt that stubborn boy was just like my father's son.
And when I thought my patience had been tested to the end,
I took my daddy's secret and I passed it on to him.

And I said, "Let me tell you a secret about a father's love,
A secret that my daddy said was just between us."
I said, "Daddies don't just love their children every now and then.
It's a love without end, amen, it's a love without end, amen."

Last night I dreamed I died and stood outside those Pearly Gates.
When suddenly I realized there must be some mistake.
If they know half the things I've done, they'll never let me in.
And then somewhere from the other side I heard these words again.

And they said, "Let me tell you a secret about a father's love,
A secret that my daddy said was just between us."
'e said, "Daddies don't just love their children every now and then.
It's a love without end, amen, it's a love without end, amen."
