Perspectives Change and They Should

Perspectives change. Values change. Understanding changes. Knowledge changes. Decisions need to change.

Tim McGraw, Don't Take the Girl

Johnny's daddy was taking him fishin'
When he was eight years old
A little girl came through the front gate holdin' a fishing pole
His dad looked down and smiled, said we can't leave her behind
Son I know you don't want her to go but someday you'll change your mind
And Johnny said "Take Jimmy Johnson, take Tommy Thompson, take my best friend Bo
Take anybody that you want as long as she don't go
Take any boy in the world
Daddy please don't take the girl

Same old boy
Same sweet girl
Ten years down the road
He held her tight and kissed her lips
In front of the picture show
Stranger came and pulled a gun
Grabbed her by the arm
said "If you do what I tell you to, there won't be any harm"

And Johnny said "Take my money, take my wallet, take my credit cards
Here's the watch that my grandpa gave me
Here's the key to my car
Mister give it a whirl
But please don't take the girl

Same old boy
Same sweet girl
Five years down the road
There's going to be a little one and she says it's time to go
Doctor says the baby's fine but you'll have to leave
'Cause his momma's fading fast and Johnny hit his knees and there he prayed

Take the very breath You gave me
Take the heart from my chest
I'll gladly take her place if You'll let me
Make this my last request
Take me out of this world
God, please don't take the girl

Johnny's daddy
Was taking him fishin'
When he was eight years old

What you think you want changes as your perspective changes-or at least it should. I knew I wanted to be a veterinarian when I was a kid. Animals are my friend. They love, they trust, they're dependable, they listen (for the most part) and obey. People are so different, so hard to work with. I love animals. I love babies-they're too little to be people. I love little kids-they're too little to be people.

Kenny Chesney, There Goes My Life

All he could think about was I'm too young for this
Got my whole life ahead
hell I'm just a kid myself
how 'm I gonna raise one

All he could see were his dreams going up in smoke
So much for ditching this town and hanging out on the coast
Oh well, those plans are long gone

And he said
there goes my life
there goes my future, my everything
might as well kiss it all good-bye
there goes my life.......

A couple years of up all night and a few thousand diapers later
That mistake he thought he made covers up the refrigerator
Oh yeah....he loves that little girl.

Momma's waiting to tuck her in
as she fumbles up those stairs
she smiles back at him dragging that teddy bear
sleep tight, blue eyes and bouncing curls

And he smiles
there goes my life
there goes my future my everything
I love you, daddy goodnight
there goes my life

She had that Honda loaded down
with Abercrombie clothes and 15 pairs of shoes and his American Express
he checked the oil, slammed the hood, said your good to go
she hugged them both and headed off to the west coast

And he cried
there goes my life
there goes my future, my everything
I love you
baby good-bye

there goes my life

there goes my life

baby good-bye

baby good-bye

there goes my life

What you think you want changes as your perspective changes-or at least it should. I knew I wanted to be a veterinarian when I was a kid. Animals are my friend. They love, they trust, they're dependable, they listen (for the most part) and obey. People are not always what they appear to be. You may trust another openly with your heart-but that doesn't mean they will reciprocate that trust.

Carrie Underwood, All-American Girl

Since the day they got married,
He'd been praying for a little baby boy.
Someone he could take fishing,
Throw the football and be his pride and joy.
He could already see him holding that trophy,
Taking his team to state.
But when the nurse came in with a little pink blanket,
All those big dreams changed.

CHORUS
And now he's wrapped around her finger,
She's the center of his whole world.
And his heart belongs to that sweet little beautiful, wonderful, perfect All-American Girl.

Sixteen short years later,
She was falling for the senior football star.
Before you knew it he was dropping passes,
Skipping practice just to spend more time with her.

The coach said "Hey son, what's your problem? Tell me, have you lost your mind?"
Daddy said "You'll lose your free ride to college. Boy, you better tell her goodbye".

CHORUS
But now he's wrapped around her finger,
She's the center of his whole world.
And his heart belongs to that sweet little beautiful, wonderful, perfect All-American...

And when they got married and decided to have one of their own,
She said "Be honest, tell me what you want?"
And he said "Honey, you oughta know... Sweet, little, beautiful... one just like you. Oh a beautiful, wonderful, perfect
All-American..."

Now he's wrapped around her finger,
She's the center of his whole world.
And his heart belongs to that sweet little beautiful, wonderful, perfect All-American Girl.
All American Girl.
